In 2020, Hella Creative initiated a groundbreaking campaign that was crucial in elevating Juneteenth to a day of national acknowledgment. Through launching an informative website and advocating for corporate recognition, the collective garnered the support of over 805 companies, committing to observe Juneteenth as a paid holiday for employees. This year's Hella Juneteenth celebration at the OMCA not only marks this significant moment in history but also celebrates Hella Creative's instrumental efforts in fostering a broader understanding and celebration of Juneteenth across the nation, highlighting the collective's impact on cultural recognition and community unity.

In 2022, Hella Juneteenth evolved from an online movement into a live, in-person festival for the first time. The Cookout turned Ali Youssefi Square in Sacramento into a lively celebration, uniting local Black chefs, live music, and an atmosphere of joy and connection.

In 2024, we elevated Hella Juneteenth by collaborating with the Oakland Museum of California (OMCA) to create the premiere Juneteenth celebration in the Bay Area. We partnered with leading Black chefs to create an unforgettable Cookout plate, complemented by live music, games, art, and a Kid's Zone.

In 2025, we return to Oakland Museum of California bigger than ever—an expanded our footprint, bring interactive art installations, and multi-day activations.
